Little’s Comfort Manual Breast Pump .

Breastfeeding is one of the major phase of a mother and baby’s life. We all know how important is breastfeeding for a baby. Breast milk is also known as Liquid Gold. Breast milk is rich in antibodies that help baby fight against diseases. Breastfed babies have a fewer risk of asthma and allergies.

Importance of breastfeeding for mum and baby

When a baby is born her stomach, intestine and kidneys are not that strong to digest food like us. So, it is advised that babies should be fed exclusively on breast milk for 6 months by doctors. Once a baby’s organs are ready in 6 months’ time period slowly and gradually the food is introduced into the body’s system. Breast milk is a complete and way beyond nutrition for a baby. Breast milk is rich in vitamin, Iron, minerals, carbohydrates, and water. It fulfills all needs of your baby’s body requirements. It is good for digestive system, nervous system and overall development of a healthy baby. Babies who are breastfed are less prone to obesity, diabetes and another aliment when they grow up.

Breastfeeding is not only beneficial for a baby but, it also plays an important role for a mother. It helps a mother to recover fast, the hormonal balance in the mom’s body is achieved, the uterus regains its original size quick along with bonding and satisfaction. It is even said that mothers who breastfeed their babies have very less risk of breast cancer.

Breastfeeding – Breast milk is also known as Liquid Gold.

Challenges moms face during breastfeeding phase.

There are many challenges we moms have faced during our breastfeeding phase and many new moms are currently phasing. I am sharing some here.

  1. Breast engorgement: This is very common and difficult issue to deal with especially if you are a new mom and you don’t know what is happening. All of a sudden you may feel heaviness in your breast and your baby is sleeping and in no mood to latch on your breast. to deal with this issue try to express some milk or use a good quality branded manual pump to get rid of this challenge of breast engorgement. this way once your baby is awake you can feed her the milk readily.
  1. Difficulty in latching: Many babies and moms face this issue of improper latching. This issue is resolved over a period of time but for a while it is troublesome. You feel guilty because you cannot feed your baby properly. I would advise same manually pump the milk and store for your baby.
  1. Premature delivery: This is the most difficult phase to see your baby in NICU post-delivery and you cannot do anything just watch your baby cry for her mom. During this time even, mom is not allowed near baby only medical experts feed formula to a baby. I have seen this phase with someone very close to me and I suggested her to use a manual pump and she could even feed her baby with that. It not only gave her feel good b=factor but, it also helped in a quick recovery of a baby.
  1. Joining workplace post maternity: There is a need and urge to do a job it is not always the same with moms that post-delivery they will or have to leave the job. Many moms join the workplace post maternity break. Now we all know that maternity break cannot be of more than 6 months so that you can have a quality time with your baby. In such cases, a manual breast pump is a boon for a mom and her baby.
  1. Twins or triplets: I could imagine how a mom has to struggle when she gives birth to Twins or Triplets. Breastfeeding again becomes a challenge as Mom always wish to feed her baby with ample breast milk but when she has to feed two she needs to be doubly sure that both are feed sufficiently or need a kind of break too. Manual breast pump will become the best friend for her.
  2. Breastfeeding in public: You are a new mom so you can’t avoid going out, attending weddings or party with an infant. Obviously, baby will need breast milk on a break of every three hours. Many religion, customs or beliefs moms are not allowed or feel shy to breastfeed in public. However, with the help of breast pump, a mom can store and carry breast milk in a bottle with her.
  3. Moms do need some me time or rest: Oh yes on-demand breastfeeding may bother a mom’s routine badly. Moms Breast feeding journey begins with many sleepless nights. She needs a break from her routine of breastfeeding and needs some rest or me time. When mom is taking rest especially in cases of C-section when her body needs ample rest. If a mother uses a manual breast pump so her baby can have breast milk whenever required.

I commend all breast feeding moms! I didn’t have much luck with my first child, I lasted 6 weeks. I hope if If I have another I can last longer. I’ll be sure to research more to prepare me and help me along the way!

I had all of those struggles you listed for breastfeeding. So I ended up pumping for a year and a half instead. It was a happy middle for us. 🙂

Pumps are definitely a game changer. Today, many moms exclusively pump as well! So whether you have the desire to nurse or not, your child can still get all the nutrients they need through milk when you pump. Great post!

I used a breast pump on several occasions, but I didn’t do it very often. My oldest didn’t like drinking out of a bottle, my second had soy formula, and my third drank out of a bottle few times.

The best thing about expressing milk, is freedom to be able to go back to work or feed in places that are socially always for breastfeeding mum’s & also…. it means dad’s have to take part in night feeds, no excuse lol

Breast pumps give some much needed relaxation to moms since they know their baby’s getting its nutrition while they’re otherwise engaged.

I know a lot of moms who are super happy with a pump as it gives a lot of space and options for them. My own mom used to use it when she breast fed. When the time comes I will too.

Great post, it certainly is one of the greatest inventions for mums and their babies. Having said that, I never got on with it, and as decided early on to work from home once I had kids, it was, thankfully, never an issue.
