Story Mamta – August 15, 2017
I bring you a new inspiring story of Amma. A lady who has Mamta in her heart not only for one or two kids but for entire village.
“How are you feeling today? Amma” Doctor Kishor started Amma’s wrist examination. “I am all fine Doctor saheb, I am sure you should discharge me. I will be fine if I will go back to my home.” The doctor smiled and started checking Amma’s BP. Amma kept lying on the bed as she was since 15 days.
After some time Doctor Kishor called Sarpanch Ji RaoSaheb for discussion of Amma’s health. “RaoSaheb, we have to do surgery urgently, the tumor is big and after surgery, Amma has to stay in the hospital. We do not have much advance technology here in Rajmachi, she needs to be shifted to Pune” RaoSaheb joined both his hands “Doctor saheb, Please tell me how much money is required, I phoned Amma’s Son, I was not able to talk to him but, I have left message on his answering machine.” RaoSaheb’s eyes went watery.
“I am trying to get aid from trustee’s, I myself had some savings of mine after all this we still need 6 lakh rupees for her complete medical care.”Doctor Kishore replied and held RaoSaheb’s hand. “I am in debt of Amma’s generosity it’s her beneficence I am a doctor today and serving my village. Her Mamta has changed my life”.
Amma was a teacher in a Government school during her young times. She was just 25 when she lost her love of life because of lack of medical facilities in the village. She took a pledge, that she will make Nandan, her son a Doctor. She was always helping and encouraging to all. She helped villagers to set up their own livings, proper health and sanitation facilities in the village, financial help, with her work and efforts soon a bank also opened a branch in the village. Entire village respect her like a mother and she keeps helping others with Mamta the motherly emotion in her heart.
For guidance, domestic issues, financial help and what not, Amma has all solutions ready for all. Every villager respects Amma like God Mother.
RaoSaheb in some hope again dialed Nandan’s number. But, No answer he could only do is leave the message after the beep. RaoSaheb with some courage and a fake smile went to see Amma. “Amma see I got some fruits for you.” RaoSaheb said and trying to look away. “RaoSaheb, Did you called Nandan ?” asked Amma with hope on her face. RaoSaheb replied with teary eyes “Amma, I am sorry I was not able to speak the call went unanswered.” “It’s ok I know Nandan must be busy he is a Big Doctor in London. I am sure he will call back” rubbing her eyes and hiding her tears behind her smile Amma said, “I remain worried about his health he is so busy, don’t know if he gets time to eat or sleep.” RaoSaheb could understand the emotions of Amma clearly. He did not wish to break in front of Amma, he came out of Surgical Ward. He straight went to Doctor Kishor’s Cabin and broke into thousand pieces.
The day’s kept passing, Amma’s condition was not improving somehow it got stuck in between no progress at all. All ward boy’s and Nurses became so friendly with Amma. All knew about the story already. Amma is a legendary personality in the village.
RaoSaheb ritually kept calling and left messages for Nandan on the answering machine twice every day.

There in London
Nandan received a letter .
“My son Nandan,
I know you are so busy, And I know I may not be able to see your face again. So, I am writing this last letter to you.
Nandan I miss you so much, I miss those moments when I use to hold your finger and take you to temple and school, I Miss your lovely shiny face when you played in rain, I miss those days when I use to cook your favorite food.
I miss everynight when I Kissed your forehead and you said Good night. I wish for just one hug .
When you were a small boy I used to take care of you, your food, your health etc.
I hope you are taking good care of yourself now as well. It’s a foreign land I am sure you miss your mom so much. After you gone Rajmachi became foreign land for me too. I pray for death every day as I cannot live without you.
But, you promise your mom that you will take good care of yourself. Promise me you will never feel negative in your life. I am happy to have you as my son and I feel so proud of you when people call me Nandan’s Mom.
I will pray and always wish to see you happy. If God Allow, I wish to be your mom in all my births.
Lots of blessing’s and love to you from my heart.”
